What is a typical loan size?

What is the interest rate and related fees on loans?

​

As of January 2025, Sunlight is issuing loans at 6-8% annual interest, significantly below the rate typically available to startup nonprofits. Underwriting fees are currently 1-2%.

Are loans personally guaranteed by Teacher Leaders?

 

No. Loans are guaranteed by the assets of the school (materials, furniture, etc.). Teacher Leaders will never be personally responsible to pay back a loan with their own assets.
